Mammoth Tusk Replica Resin Pendant

This piece is hand crafted from resin and comes with a 16" black cord necklace. The ice age is a period in earth's history when ice sheets covered large regions of land. Earth scientists believe there have been several main ice ages, each of which lasted a few million years. The climate grew cooler in the Cenozoic Era, about 65 million years ago, which led to an ice age. During the ice age glaciers advanced and retreated several times over large areas of the earth. Huge lumbering Mammoths and Woolly Rhinocerases roamed the frozen lands. Their thick, shaggy coats helped them adapt to the cold. Many kinds of prehistoric mammals had become extinct by the time the last glaciers retreated some 10,000 years ago. They inluded sloths, mammoths, saber toothed cats, and woolly rhinocerases. The mammoth was a prehistoric animal closely related to present day elephants. Some measured over 15' high and had tusks 13' long. Not all mammoths had long hair on their body. Imported from England.
