THE FULL STORY:    Twins are rare in the equine world and these Palomino foals are indeed a rare pair! Palomino refers to a color rather than a breed. Emperors, cowboys and kids everywhere have long favored the Palomino-colored horse, in all shades from bright yellow to a sooty gold! Golden colored horses with white or cream manes and tails have been beloved in mythology, the subject of many artists' works, the pride of Queen Isabella's Spanish court, the treasured mount of ancient tribes and companion of the Conquistadors. He was tamed by Native Americans, made a star and hero on television and in movies (it’s no surprise that both Trigger and Mr. Ed were beautiful Palominos!), and is exhibited at horse shows around the world. Palominos often have grey, black, brown, or motley skin without underlying pink skin or spots, except on the face or legs under white markings. Eyes are usually black, hazel, or brown. According to the Palomino Horse Breeders of America (PHBA), the mane and tail must be white with not more than fifteen percent dark, sorrel, or chestnut hairs. The PHBA further divides their registry into divisions – the stock division is predominantly represented by American Quarter Horses; the Golden American Saddlebred division is typically Saddlebreds; and the pleasure type division registers Morgan, Arabian, and Tennessee Walking Horses. A horse registered with a breed registry can often be registered as a palomino if it meets the conformation and color requirements. But this spunky duo is not concerned with the details of their sunny coat color! They are much more interested in finding a place to gallop and play and rest after a long day!
